Indian Chevening Gurukal Fellowship for Leadership and Excellence 2019

24th October 2019 @ 10:00 am - 1:30 pm

An FCO sponsored programme focusing on the implications of globalisation for Indian leaders, public policy issues, the political context and more generally on personal and leadership development. The programme starts from the premise that as an economic powerhouse of the global economy, a growing leader in science and technology, and the world’s largest democracy, India is in a pivotal position to drive forward an effective and legitimate institutional international order to meet the emerging challenges to global integration.

The Department of Politics and International Relations (DIPR), within the University of Oxford, annually hosts the intensive residential programme of study and address these challenges through three fundamental and interlocking components focusing on academic understanding, policy relevance and personal development.

The 2019 Fellows will visit the Indian Development Partnership Forum team at the Margaret Anstee Centre for Global Studies.

The day will include:

  • Introduction – presented by Alison Rose, Principal, Newnham College.
  • India as a development cooperation partner (working in South Asia, Africa and elsewhere, providing technical assistance, loans etc, and how this is changing/expanding) – presentations by Dr Emma Mawdsley, Director, The Margaret Anstee Centre for Global Studies and Laura Trajber Waisbich.
  • Discussions and Q&A’s.
